Dirndl DIY

Who says that a dirndl has to be classy? We already showed you last year how you can transform a 30 Euro dirndl from an online shop into an eye-catcher. This year we have a few more insider tipps for you – and for your men.

7 FACTS ABOUT A DIRNDL
  1. In the 70s the dirndl inspired Yves Saint Laurent to a chic, famer’s wife look.
  2. The operetta “The White Horse” was played 223 times on the broadway and caused a dirndl-boom in the USA.
  3. The most expensive dirndl costs 100.000 Euro. It’s made out of tussah silk and was decorated with 150.000 Swarovski crystals within 300 work hours.
  4. The traditional dirndl is made out of linen, cotton or silk. But there are also a few made with thermoplast in white and blue or bright red leather.
  5. There were two special designs for the European championship. The „Kicker-Dirndl“ looked like a soccer ball and the other one like a German flag in black, red and gold.
  6. And for 50.000 Euro there was a skull-dirndl sold in 2008.
  7. Genius marketing: The Columbian tailor Miguel Caballero made a bulletproof dirndl in 2009.

THE PERFECT DIRNDL FOR THE OKTOBERFEST

If you can afford it, invest in a good dirndl. The fabric shouldn’t mind some beer on it, which is a big disadvantage of sensitive materials. Our tipp: Lines or cotton. You can simply throw them in the wash on the next day.

The perfect dirndl sits tight on the upper body and waist and doesn’t create any lines. If that is the case with your dirndl, it doesn’t fit properly – and people can see that.

The tradition claims: The distance between the hem and the ground has to be one beer mug. Style sais: Shorter is always better, but always cover your knees. And colors are great, too. The trends of 2016 are somewhere between red, green and blue. We think: Pink is always as good idea.

White blouses are traditional. If you feel like experimenting, grab some lace fabric and colors. But keep the whole outfit in mind.

7 FAKTEN ÜBER DAS DIRNDL

AND FOR THE BOYS:
CAN YOU WASH LEATHER PANTS– YES OR NO?

Dear ladies, dear washing machine loving men, yes you can. But only with strict instructions. It takes about 4 hours and is done with rain water and soft soup. Or simply get it done by an expert. It is only really necessary when the leather gets hard or when your girl stops staring at your butt all day.
