Our product manager Olga started dancing with 5 years. We’ll share with you in our special-birthday-interviews where we came from and how the shop has arisen. Simply because: 10 years are to be celebrated. Right?

HOW DID IT ACTUALLY STARTED WITH YOU AND THE DANCING?
It actually started when I was 5 years old. My mother took me to ballet dancing when I was 5 years old, that’s what I did until I was 10 years old. Then my family moved to another place in town and I found a new best friend. She was already in a dancing school and when I came there to watch her dance training, I knew “I also want to do this”. I thought it was just wonderful. I loved everything about dancing, everything. The great fellowship, the dresses, the music, the movements, just everything.

FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DANCING AND WHY DID YOU STOP?
Adding up the time in ballet it would make 15 years. Unfortunately my dancing partner moved away after a while and I didn’t want to look for a new dancing partner and that’s how it ended. A while after I stopped dancing, I missed it more and more. I had so much spare time, I just didn’t know what do with it. One day I started sewing dresses and refining them. My mother had good contacts to crystal- and fabric manufacturers through creating my dresses back then. And that’s how it all began. My brother is a programmer. I love being creative and love getting in touch with people and our mother knows how to work with fabrics and rhinestones very well. That was just the perfect combination.

IN THE BEGINNING YOUR MOTHER SEWED YOUR DRESS, WERE THEY ALSO SPARKLING A LOT?
Yes, I hadn’t a dress that didn’t excessively sparkle, I’ve always loved that. My mother often sat comfortably in front of the TV and sewed and glued the rhinestones on the dresses and you couldn’t see any rhinestones laying around. She had a lot of patience, so it took a lot of hours to complete such a dress. The ideas for the dresses always came from me and my dancing partner, we always made the decision together.

CAN YOU STILL REMEMBER YOUR FAVORITE DRESS?
Yes of course, the inspiration came from the ‘’Austin powers’’ movie.The special thing about it was that the dress was crocheted. My mother tried to crochet it like the dress in the movie .That was really extraordinary, unfortunately I don’t have that dress anymore. I only have my first dancing dress and the first one my mother sewed.

NOW STRASS.COM IS YOUR BABY, DO YOU STILL MISS DANCING SOMETIMES?
Yeah sometimes, it’s just moving to the music, it’s a really nice hobby. I have been thinking about beginning salsa. Who knows, maybe I’ll start again with dancing someday.

WAS IT EASY FOR YOU TO GET INTO THE JOB AS PRODUCT MANAGER?
Yes, I found it very easy, because I was always close to the products and the whole process of manufacturing. And I always know exactly which crystal stone to use for any process. I love my job. It is fun to look after and advise the customers. It’s never boring, our customers always have new ideas that they'd love to fulfill and we help them do so. I even find it amazing to crystalize everything in my private life.

HOW DID IT ACTUALLY CAME TO THE ONLINESHOP?
I was very sceptical, unfortunately I‘m an overcautious person. I’m a trained office clerk and have also worked as waitress and stewardess. I’m very careful so I had jobs besides the onlineshop for a long time. Because my dream was always to turn my hobby into my job.

Mit süßen 5 Jahren hat unsere Produktmanagerin Olga angefangen zu tanzen. In unseren Special-Birthday-Interviews teilen wir mit euch, wo wir herkommen und wie der Shop entstand. Denn: 10 Jahre müssen gefeiert werden, oder?

WIE HAT DAS EIGENTLICH ANGEFANGEN, MIT DIR UND DEM TANZEN?
Angefangen hat das eigentlich schon als ich 5 Jahre alt war. Mit 5 hat meine Mama mich zum Ballett gebracht. das habe ich dann gemacht bis ich 10 Jahre alt war. Dann ist meine Familie innerhalb unserer Stadt umgezogen und ich habe eine neue beste Freundin gefunden. Sie war damals schon beim Tanzen und als ich ihr dann einmal beim Training zugeguckt habe, wusste ich „das will ich auch machen“. Ich fand es einfach wunderbar. Ich habe alles am Tanzen geliebt, das ganze Drumherum. Die tolle Gemeinschaft mit den anderen Tänzern, die Kleider, die Musik, das Bewegen – einfach Alles.

WIE LANGE HAST DU GETANZT UND WARUM HAST DU AUFGEHÖRT?
Mit der Zeit beim Balett waren es 15 Jahre. Mein Tanzpartner ist dann leider irgendwann weggezogen. Einen neuen wollte ich mir nicht suchen, und das war dann leider das aus. Einige Zeit nachdem ich mit dem Tanzen aufgehört hatte, hat mir das Thema immer mehr gefehlt. Ich hatte plötzlich so viel Freizeit und wusste nicht so ganz wohin damit. Irgendwann habe ich angefangen Kleider zu nähen und diese zu veredeln. Meine Mutter hatte durch das Nähen meiner Kleider sehr gute Kontakte zu Kristallherstellern und Stoffherstellern und so kam eins zum anderen. Mein Bruder ist Programmierer, ich bin gerne kreativ und liebe den Umgang mit Menschen und unsere Mutter kann sehr gut mit Stoffen und STRASS umgehen. Das war einfach die perfekte Kombination. Irgendwann saßen wir zusammen und kamen auf die Idee einen Onlineshop zu gründen. Das Programmieren hat dann ca. 6 Monate gedauert und dann sind wir irgendwann einfach mit einem kleinen Sortiment online gegangen. Nach und nach haben wir unser Sortiment immer mehr erweitert.

AM ANFANG HAT DEINE MAMA DEINE TANZKLEIDER GENÄHT. HABEN DIE AUCH IMMER GANZ DOLL GEFUNKELT?
Ja. Ich hatte kein Kleid das nicht übermäßig gefunkelt hat. Ich habe das schon immer geliebt. Rumfliegende Strasssteine gab es bei meiner Mutter aber nicht zu sehen. Sie hat oft gemütlich während des Fernsehens genäht und geklebt. Sie hat wirklich eine riesige Geduld, das dauert ja wirklich sehr viele Stunden, solch ein Kleid fertigzustellen. Die Ideen zu den Kleidern kamen eigentlich immer von meinem Tanzpartner und mir. Wir haben das immer zusammen entschieden.

KANNST DU DICH NOCH AN DEIN LIEBLINGSKLEID ERINNERN?
Ja! Auf jeden Fall. Die Inspiration kam aus dem Film „Austin Powers“.Das Besondere war, dass das Kleid gehäkelt war. Meine Mutter hat versucht es 1:1 nachzuhäkeln. das war wirklich sehr außergewöhnlich. Leider besitze ich das Kleid heute nicht mehr. Ich habe noch mein erstes Tanzkleid und ich glaube das erste, das meine Mutter selber genäht hat. Die anderen Kleider habe ich leider alle verkauft.

JETZT IST DIE STRASS.COM DEIN BABY, VERMISST DU DAS TANZEN TROTZDEM MANCHMAL?
Manchmal schon. einfach dieses Bewegen zur Musik. Das ist wirklich ein sehr schönes Hobby. Ich habe auch schon mal überlegt vielleicht mit Salsa anzufangen – wer weiß, vielleicht mache ich das ja irgendwann noch mal.

KONNTEST DU DICH LEICHT IN DEN JOB ALS PRODUKTMANAGER HEREIN FINDEN?
Ja, das fiel mir sehr leicht, weil ich immer sehr nah an dem Produkt und der Verarbeitung dran war. Ich wusste meist genau, welchen Kristall man für welche Verarbeitung verwenden kann. Ich liebe meinen Beruf, es macht mir Spaß Kunden zu betreuen und beraten zu können. Es wird nie langweilig, unsere Kunden haben immer wieder neue Ideen, die verwirklicht werden wollen und wir helfen ihnen dabei. Auch privat finde ich es immer noch toll, alles zu verstrassen.

WIE KAM DAS EIGENTLICH MIT DEM ONLINESHOP?
Ich war sehr skeptisch, ich bin leider so ein Typ und bin immer sehr übervorsichtig. Ich habe Bürokauffrau gelernt, habe gekellnert und als Flugbegleiterin gearbeitet. Ich habe wirklich sehr lange noch neben dem Onlineshop gearbeitet, weil ich einfach sehr vorsichtig bin und sicher gehen wollte, dass das auch wirklich funktioniert. Denn mein Traum war schon immer, mein Hobby zum Beruf zu machen und davon leben zu können.
